Are you YOLD?

I read this article, and got a fabulous giggle out of it.

Have you met a YOLD person? I’ve known several over my lifetime. My mother-in-law being one of them. She joined a Polka group when she retired at 72 from Budweiser. Until her mid 80’s she traveled with the group dancing at retirement homes. She served as a Eucharist Minister for her church, serving communion at the hospitals in her home town. She’s 93 now, and in her final days. But I can’t think of her without thinking or her zest for life, her large group of friends, and how she served her community.

This article talked about the rise in the baby boomer retirement numbers since 2000 when the first of the boomers started to retire. I like to think about the 2020’s being their (my) decade. I’m at the very tail end of that generation if you take the 1946-1964 number, as many do to define the Baby Boom generation.

My favorite YOLD person is Betty White. She’s not a baby boomer, but she defines YOLD to me.

As I creep forward toward 60, I’m kinda excited about the freedom, the opportunity, and all the great things that this new decade will bring.

Who is your favorite YOLD person?

The new Gym

I’ve been working out at the Yoga and Fitness studio for 3 years. They started cutting back on the TRX classes that I really enjoyed.

I saw my strength, and endurance really improve with TRX, and I really enjoyed the instructor.

When it became evident that the studio was going in a different direction, I went a different direction too.

I didn’t realize that I was so complacent at the yoga place. This little work out kicked my backside. I was sore for 3 days.

It has inspired me to push myself a little harder, and see what I can really do with a little professional assistance.

My gift to myself is a month of personal training.

Staying strong, fit, and active is important. Meeting new people, doing new things is good for me too.

We will see what the next 25 days will bring.

Breathing

It’s hard to breathe in a storm.

Professionally, personally, there is so much going on.

It seems like everything has hit at one time.

Parents, children, nephews, clients, co-workers, in-laws, friends….

I’m strapped in for the storm.

But I am breathing.

Tomorrow is another day, right?

Memories

Living in a city fo close to 30 years, you remember things as you drive down familiar roads.

You remember when country roads were country roads.   Where the cows used to roam.  Where the good restaurants used to be, and what they are now.

Today, just isn’t what it used to be.

But tomorrow, has an awesome promise.

Back to Work on a Tuesday

I like going back to work on a Tuesday.

Starting a New Year on a Tuesday is fun.  I’m looking forward to this coming year.

Like a new journal, or a new coloring book, it is beckoning me to get creative.

Each day has it’s own opportunities.

I hope your Tuesday is Fabulous!

Farewell 2016!

2016….what a year.

A year of searching and finding.

A year of honey, and beeswax, lotions, soaps, and products from the hive.

A year of capturing swarms, re-queening hives, and nurturing the bees.

2016 gave us Contentious political debates, uncovered debauchery, treachery, lies, and fraud.

Fake news complaints by the media that created the Fake news.

Death of Rockers, Actors, and Beloved Icons.

Fires, Floods, and Frightening Facts about the corruption in Washington D.C.

Finding a new job meant leaving behind the long lunches with friends, and finding new ways to stay connected.

Breaking through rocky ground and continuing to cultivate gratitude in my life.

Slowing down how often I post on WordPress, and seeing my followers grow to almost 600.  I’m amazed and grateful.

Change is inevitable, and I am looking forward to a better 2017.

Cheers to 2017:  To a Great Honey Harvest, Great Business Opportunities, Great times with Friends, To a sweeter year, a kinder year, and one that brings dreams to life.

Happy New Year.

Dipping my toe back in

The excitement builds as the start date for my new Job gets closer.

The press release went out today….Snort….I got a press release.  In my nerdy-ness, I sent it to everyone.  Cause, I now have a job.  (giggle)

The energy is amazing as the emails flew about today to prepare for next week, the conference in Las Vegas at the end of this month, the conference in Boston in October, the hosted events already scheduled the next few weeks, and my calendar started to magically fill up.

Even with this little flurry of activity, and preview of what is to come I feel such contentment, such calm delight, such joy.

I’m so grateful.  The last year has been a blur.  Not a bad year by any means.  It has been a learning year, a preparing year, and a resting year.

All the interviews, all the declines, every time I got frustrated, I could hear down deep in my heart.  “Not Yet.”

It’s so exciting that “Yet” is here.  It is time.  Not just that, it is “Go” time.

With my toe back in the water, I can tell the water is great.  I’m ready to jump right in.img_1717

Melting

I melt

From the great object that I was

    Into the flow of nothing

     Nothingness, opens its arms

And scatters me out into the void
