Just being

today I woke up in a bit of a panic……looking for something to “do”.

My mind was bouncing from one need to the next as I sought to prioritize my massive to-do list.

I got ahold of myself, and sat down.  I’m a human Being, not a human Doing.  Time to exercise some peace.

Psalm 1:3 β€œAnd he shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity].

This last weekend, I took some pictures on the property we were visiting.  My husband’s cousin has exotic game, lots of deer etc on his property, but what I liked were the trees.

This big Oak was snuggled up to a new pond that Ross had put in last year.  It’s massive arms outstretched. It’s leaves were all new, shiny, and green.  It’s a really peaceful spot.

Needless to say, I put meditation into place, and thought about just being.  That tree in the verse of scripture was ‘planted’, it was put in its spot on purpose.  That is really comforting to me.  The tree is planted and tended.

It was a great reminder that all will be well.  I will get through my list.  One project at a time.

No nutritional updates to speak of.  Still not sleeping real well…the bad dreams came back Sunday night with a vengeance.  My overwhelming to-do list might be the culprit behind those.

Today I’m grateful for good reminders, good exersize, good dogs, and good friends.

Have a great day!

  1. Great things to be thankful for. And what a great tree.
I like that: “I’m a human Being, not a human Doing. Time to exercise some peace.”
Oh no. Not sleeping well? Bad dreams? I used to suffer with chronic insomnia, so I can empathize. I hope things get better for you soon.

  2. That looks like a wonderful tree to sit under and ponder the universe. We, as humans, do tend to get caught up and the hustle and bustle of life and not take the time to exercise some peace and quiet. I hope that you’re doing well today.
