Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge: Day Two

Thanks Elizabeth from  Teandpaper.com who invited me to participate in this 5 day challenge!

The “challenge”.  Post a photo each day for 5 consecutive days and attach a story to the photo.  It can be fiction or non-fiction.  Elizabeth’s photos are outstanding.  If you haven’t visited her blog….you should!  Teandpaper.com

Thistles, bristles, thorny briars!

Curses hurled.  Jeers and taunting rumbled through the valley.

The laments came unheard by the champion who stood at the base of the jumbled mass of sharp implements.  Each barb, each pointed sword stood in his way, but all he saw was his prize.

Every move cut him open as he climbed to the top.  Every handhold drew blood.  Every inch gained meant another laceration.

Sweat and blood poured from his head, his back, his hands.  His legs trembled with the effort and pain.

Until he reached the top, the prize, and he cried “it is finished”.
